Have you always wanted a premium compact SUV without breaking the bank? The Skoda Kylaq, one of Skoda’s fastest-selling models in India, just got a lot more tempting. Thanks to the new GST 2.0 rules, buyers can now save up to Rs 1.19 lakh on this SUV starting September 22, 2025.

Launched in late 2024, the Kylaq won attention for its European styling and peppy 1.0L TSI petrol engine. Now, with these price cuts, it is set to challenge popular rivals like the Tata Nexon and Maruti Brezza even more strongly.

Why Are Prices Falling?

The new GST 2.0 framework has simplified taxes for small cars like the Kylaq – models under 4 meters with petrol engines up to 1.2L. Earlier, these cars attracted 29% tax (28% GST plus 1% cess). Under GST 2.0, the rate is a flat 18%. That’s an 11% reduction, and Skoda is directly passing the full benefit to customers.

The timing is no accident. The festive season is near, with Navratri and Diwali around the corner, and Skoda wants to push sales in a tough 2025 market. The company already sold 4,949 units of the Kylaq in May 2025, and lower prices will only lift demand further.

Skoda is also offering similar discounts on its other cars like the Kushaq, Slavia, and Kodiaq till September 21. But the Kylaq’s revised prices officially kick in only from September 22.

Variant-Wise New Prices

Here’s how the updated prices stack up (ex-showroom, Delhi). Final prices can vary depending on state taxes, so check with your local dealer for the exact numbers.

Prestige 1.0 TSI AT13.9912.801,19,0008.5%

The entry-level Classic now dips below Rs 8 lakh, which makes it attractive for first-time buyers. The Prestige AT saves the most, with a Rs 1.19 lakh cut, while still offering features like a sunroof and connected tech. On average, all trims see about an 8.5% drop.

Why the Kylaq is Worth It

Lower prices are one part of the story. The Kylaq still offers strong value in terms of performance and features:

  • Performance & Mileage: 1.0L turbo petrol (113 hp), 0–100 km/h in around 10 seconds, mileage of 19–20 kmpl, with both manual and automatic options.
  • Safety: 6 airbags standard, ESC, hill-hold, and based on the same platform as the 5-star rated Kushaq.
  • Comfort & Tech: Spacious cabin, ventilated seats (in higher trims), 10-inch infotainment, and wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay.
  • Build Quality: European engineering, solid feel, roomy boot, and smooth ride quality for both city and highways.

With its new pricing, the Kylaq is now closer to the Maruti Brezza (Rs 8.69 lakh starting price earlier), but it scores better in safety and features. Rivals like Tata Nexon and Mahindra XUV3XO have also cut prices by Rs 1.55–1.56 lakh, so competition is intense.

Social Media Reaction

Buzz around the Kylaq’s revised prices is strong, especially on X (Twitter). Many posts highlight the sub-Rs 8 lakh starting price with 6 airbags as standard. Some call it the “best compact SUV under Rs 8.5 lakh on-road.” Car forums like Team-BHP also praise Skoda for making a safe and feature-loaded SUV more affordable.

However, there are a few concerns. Buyers are unhappy that the Kylaq does not get early discounts before September 22, and some complain about waiting times of up to two months. Others point out that EVs still enjoy a lower 5% GST, which could affect long-term decisions. Still, overall sentiment is positive, with rising showroom visits being reported.

Should You Buy Now?

If you are planning your first SUV and want strong features without overspending, the new prices make the Skoda Kylaq a smart option. The savings are significant, and Skoda’s decision to pass on the full GST cut builds trust. The only catch is high festive demand, which could mean waiting periods.

Best move? Visit a showroom after September 22 or book online quickly to lock in the updated prices.
