The Tata Punch, which was once India’s top-selling car in 2024, is now set to return in a refreshed avatar. The upcoming 2025 facelift has been spotted on test runs, and the latest updates give a clear idea of what buyers can expect in terms of design, features, and performance.
Design Inspired By Punch EV
The new Punch facelift borrows styling elements from the Punch EV. Spy images show a sharper front with a new grille, split LED headlamps, and connected LED DRLs. At the rear, a flatter tailgate and redesigned connected LED taillights bring it in line with Tata’s new design language seen on the Nexon and Harrier facelifts.
New alloy wheels, a shark-fin antenna, and roof rails also give the SUV a stronger road presence. These updates make the Punch look more modern and premium than before.
Interior And Features
The cabin gets some much-needed upgrades. The highlight is a 10.25-inch infotainment screen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. A 7-inch digital instrument display and a touch-based climate control panel add to the premium feel.
Tata is also bringing in a new two-spoke steering wheel with the illuminated Tata logo. Features like ambient lighting and ventilated front seats raise the comfort levels.
On the safety front, the facelift includes dual airbags, ABS with EBD, a rear-view camera, TPMS, and reports suggest six airbags may be offered as standard in higher trims. However, features like electronic stability control could remain limited to the Punch EV.
Engine And Powertrain
No major changes are expected under the hood. The facelift will continue with the 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine producing 87.8 hp and 115 Nm, along with the CNG variant that makes 73.5 hp and 103 Nm. Both will be offered with a 5-speed manual or an AMT gearbox.
There is speculation about Tata working on a mild-hybrid version, but there is no confirmation yet.
Launch And Pricing
The Tata Punch facelift is expected to launch around October 2025, just in time for the festive season. Pricing is expected to start from ₹6 lakh (ex-showroom) with a likely increase of ₹30,000–50,000 over the current model.
The SUV will face competition from Hyundai Exter, Maruti Ignis, Skoda Kylaq, and Kia Syros. After a sales drop of 23% in 2025, Tata will look to regain lost ground with this update.
What People Are Saying
The Punch facelift has been generating strong buzz online. Many are impressed by the new EV-inspired design and connected lights. Buyers are also looking forward to premium interior touches like ventilated seats and the larger infotainment screen.
Safety remains the Punch’s strongest point, with its 5-star Global NCAP and Bharat NCAP ratings. Young buyers are also excited about new color schemes and dual-tone options that make the SUV stand out.
On the other side, some users point out that rivals like Kia Syros and Skoda Kylaq offer more advanced safety tech and fresher designs. The lack of electronic stability control in the ICE model and the absence of hybrid options may be seen as missed opportunities.
